"Made in Europe" is printed on a great many boxes. The useful question is narrower: which parts of the value chain actually happen here, and who answers the phone when something goes wrong.
A battery system is a stack of decisions — cell chemistry, pack engineering, power electronics, firmware, monitoring, support. Each layer can be sourced anywhere, and each choice has a different consequence for the person who owns the result.
Four questions worth asking any supplier
- Where is the pack engineered? : cell sourcing is global; the pack around them is where safety and lifetime are decided.
- Who writes the firmware? : the software decides how the hardware behaves for the next fifteen years.
- Where does the data go? : monitoring that leaves the country takes your operational picture with it.
- Who supports it in year eight? : a warranty is only worth the entity still standing behind it.
We publish our own answers to those four questions, because a claim that cannot be checked is marketing. The rest of the value chain we are transparent about too — including the parts that are not Belgian.
